Handling Hazardous Material Training - Columbus

Join us for a comprehensive session focusing on the proper and legal handling of hazardous material. Topics will include: Hazardous Material Regulations; training requirements for employers and employees; packaging, marking and labeling; shipping documents; emergency response information; placarding requirements; and understanding security threats.    

Course material includes the current Hazmat Regulations Book (49 CFR), the current Emergency Response Handbook (ERG), and the current DOT 16 chart. Attendees who are successful on a short written exam will receive a certification for hazmat handlers.

Instructor:

The instructor for the session is Tom Forbes, Hazardous Material Specialist with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. Mr. Forbes is a North American Certified Inspector I Level 1 driver and vehicle inspections, hazardous materials cargo tank and other bulk packages, and Level VI radioactive inspections. He was formerly with the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office in the Hazardous Materials Bureau and responded to transportation emergencies.
