Ohio Trucking Safety Council - May Meeting

Thursday, May 7, 2026 (11:30 AM - 1:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

The Power of Active Listening in Safety

The primary goal of every safety professional is simple: to ensure that everyone goes home safe. Achieving this, however, requires navigating complex communication, addressing stigma, and consistently upholding high standards. One of the most powerful skills for meeting these challenges is active listening. When safety leaders listen with intention, they build trust and respect with their coworkers—creating relationships where people feel valued, understood, and open to guidance.

Join us on Thursday, May 7 at the Medallion Club for an insightful presentation led by Paul Lawson of Paul Lawson Helps LLC. You’ll learn:

  • How warmth, respect, and empathy work together to create effective active listening
  • Why active listening is essential for strong, effective safety leadership
  • What our industry could look like if skills like active listening became the norm
