Description
Federal law mandates that all commercial motor vehicles undergo annual inspections. Join us August 27-28 for a two-day course with Brandon Evans, Motor Carrier Enforcement Manager for the Ohio State Highway Patrol, to gain an in-depth understanding of the rules, regulations, and laws governing these inspections.
This hands-on course has been developed to meet the requirements of FMCSR 396.19 and will include the following topics:
- Comprehensive coverage of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation manual
- Thorough examination of inspection criteria as per 49 CFR Part 393
- In-depth analysis of inspection criteria outlined in 49 CFR Appendix G
- Comparison of Appendix G with roadside inspection criteria
- Understanding the disparities between Appendix G and the CVSA Out of Service criteria
- Familiarization with identifying defective components
- Detailed insights into criteria specified in 49 CFR Part 396
- A systematic and efficient inspection procedure
Participants should possess at least one year of experience as a mechanic or CMV maintenance personnel within a motor carrier maintenance program or commercial garage. As a participant, you will receive valuable resources, including the FMCSR manual, CVSA Out of Service Criteria manual, and other course materials. You will also receive a Certificate of Completion upon successfully passing a short written exam.

About the Trainer:
Brandon Evans, based in Central Ohio, serves as the Motor Carrier Enforcement Manager for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He began his career with the Patrol in 2012 as a dispatcher and he quickly advanced to the role of Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector later that same year. Through a series of promotions, Evans earned his current leadership role, where he oversees motor carrier operations and enforcement efforts as well as licensing and commercial standards.
