OTA Institute Webinar: The Corporate Transparency Act - What You Need to Know

Tuesday, September 10, 2024 (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) (EDT)

Description

Join us for an essential webinar specifically for business owners as we delve into the implications of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) that took effect on January 1, 2024. The webinar, led by Stacey Dettwiller and Jonathan Wygonski with Roetzel & Andress, will take place on Tuesday, September 10 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am EST.

The CTA represents a groundbreaking shift, introducing new disclosure obligations to combat money laundering, terrorist financing, corruption, tax fraud, and other illicit activities.

While businesses worldwide and certain highly regulated entities in the U.S. are already accustomed to beneficial ownership reporting requirements, the CTA marks the first comprehensive U.S. legislation mandating most businesses, including trucking companies, to disclose their beneficial ownership. Business owners within the trucking industry must understand the intricacies of these novel disclosure requirements and how to report the information properly.

Under the CTA, all reporting companies, a category that encompasses various U.S. entities such as limited liability companies, limited liability limited partnerships, and business trusts, must file Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reports. Noteworthy is the inclusion of entities formed by filing documents with a Secretary of State or a similar office, with exceptions for sole proprietorships and general partnerships.

In this exclusive webinar, gain crucial insights into:

  • Who is obligated to file BOI reports under the CTA
  • The specific information required for compliance
  • Timelines for affected businesses to ensure adherence to the CTA
  • The designated repositories for reported information and the parties with access
  • Penalties associated with non-compliance and violations of the CTA

Webinar attendance is $29 for OTA members and $59 for non-members.
