OTA Institute: Roadside Inspection & Out-of-Service Criteria Review

Description

The OTA is hosting a Roadside Inspection & Out of Service Criteria Review on Wednesday, June 29 at their headquarters in Westerville. This all-day training, led by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), will discuss how the out-of-service criteria is applied and enforced. Additionally, they will cover how the inspection is conducted, what the inspector will look for, and how the violation will be enforced.

Attendees will receive a copy of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Handbook and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Out-of-Service Criteria Handbook (materials valued at $75). Lunch will also be provided. The price to attend this training is $249 for OTA members and $449 for non-members.

About the Trainers:
Joe Frilling works for the PUCO as a Hazardous Materials Investigation Specialist, focusing on compliance review, safety audits and roadside inspections. Prior to joining the PUCO, he was a full time roadside CMV inspector with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Anthony Lester is a PUCO Hazardous Materials Specialist II with a focus on investigative safety analysis, hazmat tech certification and bulk hazardous material certification. He worked as an Ohio State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector (MCEI) prior to joining the PUCO. As a MCEI, he received the District 9 Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector Award 20 times and received the State Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector Award 2 times.
